Stats Can waste management data

On April 25, 2002, Statistics Canada released its latest data concerning the amount of waste going to landfills and incinerators as well as selected financial and employment characteristics of waste management firms and municipalities that provide these services.
The reports provide a variety of information, including the amount of waste disposed in 2000 from coast to coast.
In 2000, Newfoundland and Labrador disposed of 409,599 tonnes of waste, compared 372,324 tonnes in 1996. Ontario disposed of approximately 7.6 million tonnes, compared to 6.9 million tonnes in 1996. British Columbia disposed of about 2.6 million tonnes of waste in 2002, compared to 2.4 million tonnes in 1996.
Waste disposal amounts were not included for PEI, Yukon Territory, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut.
