Quebec to accelerate landfill gas recovery

Just before leaving to participate in the Marrakech meetings on the Kyoto Protocol mechanisms, Quebec Environment Minister Andre Boisclair announced plans to accelerate the capture and treatment of biogases from sanitary landfill sites in the province. This initiative, he explained, will reduce Quebec’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 1.7% by 2012, relative to 1990 levels.
