New waste collection schedule for TO
The City of Toronto recently ratified a four-day, ten-hour work schedule for waste collection by the Canadian Union of Employees (CUPE) Local 416. The new arrangement will make collection more consistent and reduce the number of different collection schedules. Mayor Mel Lastman described the negotiation with the union as a good first step and as an example of many such agreements the city and the union can make to ensure quality service at the best possible price.
