Leach Company, a manufacturer of rear loading refuse collection bodies located in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, has achieved ISO 9001:2000 certification. After a three-day registration audit with ISO auditors, Leach was approved and officially registered on September 25. Per routine practices to meet ongoing ISO requirements, the company will now undergo a surveillance audit every six months in order to maintain the ISO certification status.
Leach’s Quality Manager, John Kriz, says, "ISO procedures are truly all encompassing, from the time an order comes in the door to the finished product leaving our shop. This includes how the order is processed, design and development of the product, parts planning and scheduling, through manufacturing and shipment of the unit."
Kriz continues, "Leach began the process of ISO certification just 10 months ago. Since we already had a rigorous quality program in place, getting the official certification was simply a matter of formalizing and documenting processes that have long been part of our daily routine."
The ISO certification verifies Leach’s ability to supply customers with a superior quality product at a low cost through continuous improvement of processes, products and services. Kriz explains, "Through the validation of ISO auditors, all procedures, practices and policies aimed at total customer satisfaction are verified and met."
Leach worked with consultant Jerry Hodkiewicz of Hodko & Associates in Fond du Lac, Wis., for support and direction throughout the audit process. International Management Systems, Inc., from Tampa, Fla., conducted the registration audit.
Leach Company is a subsidiary of Federal Signal Corp (NY:FSS), operating under the company’s Environmental Products Group. Leach rear loaders are manufactured in Oshkosh, Wis., for use in residential, commercial and heavy-commercial/construction waste collection. Leach is supported by a domestic and international sales and distribution network.
