B.C. revises Waste Management Act

The B.C. government has launched a comprehensive review of its Waste Management Act. The Ministry of Water, Land and Air Protection aims to adopt a scientifically based, principled approach to environmental management to benefit both the environment and economic growth. The review will also consider changes to the appeals process and the existing fees structure.

Currently, the Waste Management Act and its related regulations account for approximately 40 per cent of the ministry’s 10,000 regulatory requirements. The review is expected to take about 18 months.
