Li-Cycle appoints new corporate development director

Lithium-ion battery recycler Li-Cycle Corp. (Li-Cycle),has appointed Wilson Ma to the role of vice-president corporate development.

Ma will lead Li-Cycle’s efforts to scale the recovery of lithium-ion resources globally.

Ma brings expertise with him that spans strategic planning, venture acceleration, process engineering, project management, and teaching.

He will report directly to Ajay Kochhar, co-founder and CEO of Li-Cycle, to help deliver long-term sustainable growth in the clean energy sector.

“We’re excited to welcome Mr. Ma to the Li-Cycle team,” said Kochhar, who is also the president and executive director of Li-Cycle.

“Wilson brings tremendous value to our team, especially given his accomplished and diverse background. This is a key leadership position for Li-Cycle and Wilson will be instrumental in helping to drive our company’s advancement into global markets.”

Before joining Li-Cycle, Ma built a team and capabilities to grow Emerson Electric Co.’s business in Canada as its director of growth and business transformation. Notable accomplishments include leading customer innovation and co-creation partnerships, expanding into subscription-based service models, and driving growth across the cold chain.

“Li-Cycle is a unique company,” said Ma. “I look forward to working with the company to close the circular loop on lithium and other critical materials, and to help achieve the broader vision of creating a sustainable future for our environment.”

Ma earned an MBA from the University of Toronto Rotman School of Management and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto.
