Ontario puts alcohol container returns on hold

TORONTO – Ontario’s Beer Store is pausing recycling until March 31.

The Beer Store will not accept empty containers at any of its retail stores across the province, effective March 19, through to March 31. Deposits will be fully honoured when operations resume.

Delivery drivers for the Beer Store’s Beer Express service will also not accept empties.

The company also noted that city officials have asked for public cooperation in keeping deposit containers out of the blue box
