TOMRA gets behind AI developer
TOMRA and PolyPerception are collaborating to offer AI-powered material analysis technology to waste sorting and recycling facilities.
Focusing on continuous waste flow analysis and offering customers a dedicated analysis solution based on computer vision and deep learning, PolyPerception delivers a complementary solution to TOMRA’s sorting technologies for polymer sorting applications. TOMRA will support speeding up PolyPerception’s commercial development.
“It is great”, “to see PolyPerception’s capabilities and innovative approach to the analysis of materials in the different waste streams using deep learning technology,” said Felix Flemming, SVP, Head of Digital at TOMRA Sorting.
“For us, this is the first time we collaborate closely with a start-up in its early stage. We are convinced that this collaboration will bring tangible benefits to the recycling industry by combining material sorting with material analysis and allowing us to optimize the material recovery further.”
Nicolas Braem, CEO & Co-Founder of PolyPerception said the collaboration with TOMRA will accelerate the development of his company’s material analysis technology.
TOMRA Recycling designs and manufactures sensor-based sorting technologies for the global recycling, waste management, and mining industries.
The company was the first to develop advanced waste and metals sorting applications using high capacity near infrared (NIR) technology to extract the most value from resources and keep materials in a loop of use and reuse. To date, more than 8,350 systems have been installed in 100 countries worldwide.
